Hypnosis is a means of accessing your subconscious mind which is
the part of your brain that is responsible for all your bodily functions,
eg, breathing and automatic behaviour, eg habits.
The subconscious mind is also the seat of your emotions which influence
the way you think and behave. All of us have greater mind power
than we realise. We need never consider ourselves failures or remain
unhappy. There is always much that we can do to correct and improve
our situation in life.
By entering into hypnosis, you are engaging in a process with makes it
easier for you to understand the working of your own body and mind;
learn the factors which basically cause your own distress;
and learn how to control them.

Self-hypnosis can be used as a method of deep relaxation for Stress
Management and for achieving more from the potential which we each possess,
eg, for increasing, work, study and sporting performance; improving concentration
and memory; boosting self-confidence, etc.
Self-hypnosis is taught to every client as an ongoing tool for personal
change and for managing stress.
The actual experience of trance is familiar to us all. It is a completely
normal and natural state which is accessed by most people for at least 3
hours every day during so-called 'waking hypnosis': for example, when daydreaming,
dozing in bed or reading an engrossing book.
In 'waking hypnosis', you are deeply relaxed, unaware of routine things
happening around you and oblivious of time. 'Waking hypnosis' is nature's
way of enabling us to switch off periodically throughout the day and to
relax in order to be able to cope with the stress in our daily lives!
However, although 'waking hypnosis' and hypnosis are both characterized
by focused concentration, relaxation, reduced movement, and sharper senses,
suggestion is the key to hypnosis. In hypnosis, the conscious mind - our
critical faculty - is less active and suggestions towards a specific goal
can go directly into the subconscious mind.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the application of hypnosis for the treatment and relief
of a variety of physical and psychological problems through the Hypnotherapist
making suggestions to bring about the beneficial therapeutic changes requested
by the Client. No other suggestions are given!
How does Hypnotherapy work?
The conscious mind - our critical faculty - is used to make everyday decisions.
However, our conscious mind is highly influenced by the subconscious - the
much larger part of our mind of which we are unaware in the waking state.
In hypnosis, the conscious mind is less dominant and the Hypnotherapist
can talk directly to your subconscious mind and make beneficial suggestions
in order to bring about your desired positive changes.
Can I be hypnotised against my will?
Absolutely not. All hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis and a hypnotist
is only enabling the subject to access the hypnotic state by 'inducing'
the trance. Therefore, the Hypnotherapist needs your full co-operation in
order to induce a trance. Even when hypnotised, you can terminate the
trance at any time simply by opening your eyes.
Can I be made to do anything that I object to?
Definitely not. If a hypnotist tried to compel you to do or say anything
that you considered to be in any way inappropriate, it would cause you so
much mental conflict that you would immediately come out of the trance by
yourself. It is important, therefore, that the Hypnotherapist takes careful
case notes in order to fit the suggestions to your individual personality
and needs.
Will I forget what has happened during the trance afterwards?
You are always in control. You will remember everything you have
experienced unless a loss of memory for specific events is produced by your
own subconscious mind, for example, to protect yourself against issues you
are not ready to deal with.
Could I not use my willpower instead of hypnosis?
You can try, but hypnosis is better than willpower because it uses the imagination.
You can't will yourself into a sickness, but you can imagine yourself into
or out of an emotional sickness! By using your imagination through hypnosis
you can achieve permanent results.
How many sessions will I need?
The majority of problems treatable by hypnosis can be resolved in approximately
2-3 sessions. Deep-rooted problems will necessitate slightly more. Your
case is considered individually and an indication of how many sessions you
will need will be given at your initial session.
How long does a session last?
Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes.
Is it Confidential?
All treatment is provided in a completely safe, caring and confidential
environment.
Fees can be obtained on application.
